I have put this on Here because this is what catches bugs on wings.
Today I went for my usual walk down the canal hoping to see spiders,
Yesterday I took a late afternoon walk and saw more cobwebs than usual
and did not have the camera with me so today I went out specifically to see and shoot spiders,
there are always tiny spiders in and around my flat most are too small to get a decent photo of.
the ones I have are already on the blog. there is one that looks like it has four eyes. but in fact only has two. the first photo taken with my pocket camera.

the ones I did capture today are nothing like what I was expecting to see.the first two photos are the same spider back underside.

This must be one of the smallest wasps in Africa I do not know its name as with most of the small wildlife here in Egypt. this little wasp is about 1/4 " and is much smaller than a fly,

another small bug usually bright colours means its a warning sign.

This is another what at first sight seems to be a white butterfly not sure if its the leaves that make it look green.

two butterflies where today quite happy to be models . neither of which I have an I D for. so a little help will be welcome.
this was I thought at first just a black and white butterfly.

Then it flew off only to land in a better position for a photo Just as it flew off another white one came and landed inside one of the bushes great I thought but its only a large white.

About to give up on the butterfly its too damned hot, the white flew past and landed on a flower 4ft away.

The sun realy brought out the colours in the delicate wings

Today I am bored out of my skin, unable to leave the flat with backache. but as you will see, if I do not go out to see the wildlife they come to me, Just as I finished today's blog and settled myself in a comfortable position to do some more writting on my autobiography. something that was prompted by Mary on her stone wall. and Kerry with her foggy landscape. this beetle flew in and landed on the top of my flat screen. it seems quite damaged after taking a few shots and putting on the computer it seems to have lost a couple of its legs. this one would not keep still even though I put it in a plastic container to restrain, If I knew its legs were missing I would have sprayed it and then taken photos but I do not like to do that . as soon as I finished I let it fly off the end of my finger to the great big world. from where it flew in from.

This is no bigger than a pin head first I thought it was a gnat , the shots where taken 1" from the subject in macro. the tiny spider is not much bigger that also was taken 1" from the spider,

Just as the sun was setting I had a late visitor. I do not know the name of this species of fly , and this fly I do not mind because it does not land on me like the house flies, they just land on the balcony rail and bask in the sun, and I can get within 1" to macro photo them , Its just that I think they are wonderfully made as are all things God made. It did not land in a good place for macro as the setting sun was in the lens.

Then I went up on the roof to check on the little pigeon chicks but alas I think the rats have made a meal of them, such is life. but I did get a rather good photo of one of the young Doves , it stayed quite close they are very flighty and I do not blame them with the young kestrels about not to mention rats

Unsure whether to stay or go. a gust of wind then made her mind up.

the young falcons are still sleeping in the nests, they where have great time flying against the breeze. but most of the time too far away for a good shot.

.And the end of another day very hot again in the late 40s, not 38 as the world weather said,

Every one has cockroaches somewhere lurking about around the home, yuk" here in Egypt we have the
Periplaneta americana, American cockroach . its not that I get them in my flat as I am on the fourth floor but they are here and every now and again I go down to the lower floor hide -e - hole cupboard and spray.
the hide-e-hole is where the service area for all the pipes service water sewage etc, there is also a service manhole that is home to the cockroach and if not sealed properly the periplaneta escape and invade the building mostly coming out at night. this manhole has no seal. . as I went down this morning early to take my garbage out I also took my ragon spray this is what I spray in my bedroom against mosquito.
and works well killing cockroaches, at 10 30 I went out again and saw 2 dead bugs near the entrance door put them in a carrier bag to take photos of (.no not in the bag) when I got back to my flat I took the roaches out of the bag to take photos of and here they are dead as a dodo ,

I then looked up cockroaches on line and came up with a whole list. and these are Periplaneta americana, American cockroach

Last night my balcony window had 15 of these tiny moths on the glass they had been attracted by the blue neon light of the zapper that is placed in the kitchen to zap the flies, I tried to get a photo of them through the glass but all I got was a backflash. the photos I managed to get! one last night after switching off the zappers and some today before it realized it ws being phographed.

what had actually happened was he saw me walking down the path that leads to the other end of the Island but me I never stay on the paths nothing to see I look for grasses and reeds that's where the wildlife is, and me being me and take my time in case I miss anything I did not come back for 2 hours. In the meantime this worker fell asleep waiting for me to come back , only to wake up after I passed. He shouted after me money I need money, me too I shouted back.

I will call it a Beetle In the uk this bug is green and always feeding on the leaves of fruit plants
and trees. its more like a large aphid about 1/2" in length (15mm) so you can guess how small the flies are.

As I was on my knees taking this photo A farmer came over and started the usual crap I need money. If you know what I am photographing I will give you one hundred pound ( £10.00
$5.5 ) the amount they will make in 2 weeks.

I showed him the photo of the beetle . where he asked and I pointed to the area where the beetle was . where again he asked, so I cut the grass the beetle was on to show him.
defeated he muttered under his breath and walked off. calling me a crazy man. and giving the crazy sign with his fingers to his head. and if this my hobby is crazy, Maybe I am. But who is crazy some guy who grows clover and spends all day cutting it to feed his donkey who is tethered all day, so it can eat when it gets home. why not tether the donkey so it can graze,

What is it

At last I managed to get a closer picture of the black dot butterfly
this has been around for quite a while but never seems to land anywhere near anything that moves. always on the wing so to speak. but today It landed almost 4ft away panic panic get the adjustment right do O move ! ah well just try and it stayed where it was until a bee passed and it was gone again.

There are not many yellow butterfly,s about unlike the Painted Lady
getting a decent shot has been quite hard this last one I saw it fly off as I approached stood still in the area and it came back to the flower it was on. only one shot its was a good job i set the focus on the flower before it came back.

Not seen this insect before its about the size of a bumble bee'
I have only been photographing the wild life for about 9 months but as far as I can tell it seems the bees and ants are around all the year the dragons seem to have days some have a couple of weeks, there is the red darter that seems to be here since I started noticing the different species,
and the birds, most are migrant apart from the Little white heron The Cattle Egrets, bee eaters and of course the sparrows, so I never know what bird or insect I will see tomorrow on my walk, i am sure the yellow spiders are not here all the time or I would have noticed them if the dragons are here so are the damsels, they also seem to vary to season. if you go back to

I can not get these painted ladies to open there wings for me

I only saw this when I was taking a shot of the beetle they
just blend in with the grasses.

I think this is a good shot this was taken from 10ft / 3 meters
the dragon is about 1" long and one of the smallest I have shot.
